This image made me think about all the wonderful boys (& men) I’ve had the chance to spend time with in the shoes of their beloved. Although I wouldn’t, in a million years, replace my own boyfriend for a fictional one, I thought I’d enjoy posting about my favourite book boyfriends – and why I love them <3 🙂
*These aren’t in order of preference, rather the order they are in on my bookshelf: alphabetical order by author’s last name.*
1. Heath Luck
This gorgeous and totally adorable guy is from P.C. and Kristin Cast’s House of Night series. He’s Zoey Redbird’s human boyfriend until she becomes Marked and leaves all of her human life behind – except for Heath. There are many yummy men in the HON series, but Heath stands out for me because he’s the sweetest, cutest, loveliest one in the series (that I’ve read so far! Though I really hope they don’t introduce yet another male). Heath sticks by Zoey no matter what and is determined not to let his jealous feelings get in the way of looking after her. His only downside is, he can be a bit of a pushover where Zoey is concerned.
2. Peeta Mellark
The baker’s son from the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. He’s been in love with Katniss Everdeen for longer than he can remember and whilst he’s in the games he finally gets to act on his feelings, even if he’s supposed to be only acting. I love how despite everything, he still loves Katniss. His love for her hasn’t dwindled over time, and he’s also willing to sacrifice himself to save her. Which, duh, in the Hunger Games world is fairly realistic, but it’s heart melting all the same.
3. Mick – Philippa’s brother
Unfortunately there isn’t a last name for Mick & Philippa anywhere on the web! He’s the wonderful boyfriend of Beautiful Malice‘s main character, Katherine Boydell – the amazing novel by Rebecca James. My favourite part of this novel is when they live together after Katherine becomes pregnant. It was beautiful, and I was actually quite devastated when Mick died. I often don’t feel the sad emotions when I read books. The Fault In Our Stars? I did not shed one tear. Yes I am THAT girl. I feel the happy, the insane romances, the wonderful safety of a happy relationship – but I don’t feel the deaths and the heartbreaks. But I actually felt grief when Mick passed.
P.S. Book Breath Babe – where I got the image from the top of the page from has a page titled “Book Boyfriends”. She includes this picture:
4. Fletcher Renn
Ahh Val why did you give this one up? He’s the teleporter from Derek Landy’s Skulduggery Pleasant series. I’ve got no idea why Valkyrie dropped him! Well technically she didn’t drop him, she got bored of him and cheated on him. Still. I don’t get it! He’s sweet and loving and he was totally smitten with her. Plus he can teleport! I can’t tell you how many times I ask my boyfriend when he’s invented teleportation so I don’t have to miss him as much!
5. Seth Morgan
This guy spells YUMMY! He’s the first book boyfriend who introduced me to the whole hot-pierced-tattooed-bad-boy-but-secretly-good-boy character. He’s out of Wicked Lovely by Melissa Meyer. Aislinn was the lucky girl he is fixated on. Their first kiss is one of my absolute favourite romance scenes. It, and the one from Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, inspired the second kiss from my novel. Seth sticks by Aislinn despite her less than human transformation and even changes himself to allow himself to be with her in a way that doesn’t burn or hurt himself.
6. Travis Maddox
I could not forget this amazing package! Travis Maddox has transfixed many girls world wide from the pages of Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire. However you know what? Even though I’ve put him down as one of my top ten book boyfriends if he ever walked up to me I would never date him: a) he’d never leave Abby for anyone b) therefore you’d have to meet him before Abby, and before Abby he was a hot mess you wouldn’t want to be in. Not like hot caramel fudge, more like boiling acid that’ll slowly eat into you until you have nothing left. He’s an amazing boyfriend, but only because Abby is his girlfriend.
7. Thomas James Maddox
Although he’s not one of the “main” boyfriends in Beautiful Oblivion he still grabbed my attention. He’s another crazy package of a Maddox boy by Jamie McGuire, except TJ seems less crazy. Not that we got a massive slice of him, and his job would be a bitch, but the small portion I saw I liked. He was sweet and charming and very understanding. I can’t wait to read his book Beautiful Redemption.
8. Noah Calhoun
The amazing and romantic boy from Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook. I’m sure the majority have seen the film, but have you read the book? All the extra, lovely details about Noah, and his romance with Allie Hamilton. Noah loves Allie with everything in him, and the book proves it as he recounts their life together as an attempt to bring Allie back to him from the clutches of dementia.
9. Sam Roth
Sam is the amazing guy from Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater who takes his girlfriend, Grace Brisbane to a bookstore for a date. Enough said!
10. Jacob Black
I always liked him better than Edward, in the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. There was something about him that was more fun and warm and less bossy. My favourite book was Eclipse because of the kiss scene between Jacob and Bella. Plus he can age like a human, yet still protect you from the things that go bump in the night! I just wish we got to see more of him and Renesmee as a happy couple.
What are your top ten book boyfriends? What qualities in them stood out to you?
As for me, I’m going to enter the world of Alice in Zombieland again and hopefully get some more juicy details about Ali and Cole!
Have a great night everyone 🙂
