If you’re into steamy love scenes, unbreakable friendships, and insane, heart stopping, I-can’t-put-this-book-down romance then look no further. You’re next best friend is Jamie McGuire in book form:
The novel which started the Maddox Brothers series, but it’s not the first one. It’s hard to place. I’d call it a stand alone and the Maddox Brothers is a spin off series.
Travis is your typical university fratboy [playboy]. He’s been with more women than he can remember (and he has a great memory, he aces all his classes) because he’s never been able to find his “Pigeon”. The girl who’s worth it, the girl who doesn’t drop her panties at the drop of a hat – not that Travis complains about it.
In strolls Abby. She’s not immune to his charm, but she’s terrified of rumours and doesn’t want to screw up her reputation by spending time with the biggest one night stand of the campus.
“Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.” – This part was copied from Jamie McGuire’s website as it’s way better than anything I could have written.
After Beautiful Disaster is narrated by Abby, Jamie McGuire wrote Walking Disaster – their story from Travis’s part of view.
Walking Disaster was the first novel in the series I read and I fell in love with it. My cousin had read Beautiful Disaster a while ago and was harping at me to read it, but I didn’t bother to. On my LibraryThing account I signed up for the Early Reviewers Program (you could get picked to be sent a free book – generally by ebook these days – if you promise to review it). I was sent a paperback of Walking Disaster.
Best. Read. Ever.
I am a sucker for romance and it was wicked reading it from a male’s POV, especially one as volatile as Travis’s.
These are the next three novels in the Maddox Brothers series. They all follow Travis’s brothers; first Trent, second Thomas, third Taylor, and to be released in January 2016 the final novel in the Maddox Brothers saga, Tyler in Beautiful Burn.
Yes, Jamie McGuire has a thing for alliterating names. All the female protagonists are alliterated first and last names: Abby Abernathy, Camille Camlin, Liis Lindy, Falyn Fairchild and Ellison Edson.
There are also two novellas:
I won’t say who A Beautiful Wedding follows for those of you who haven’t read the books. I don’t want to spoil it!
Something Beautiful features the Maddox’s cousin Shepley and his high maintenance (but totally loveable and worth it) girlfriend America Mason.
I’ve read all of them except Beautiful Sacrifice, Something Beautiful and Beautiful Burn (especially since it’s not out yet!).
I heartily recommend them to anyone who loves to read good romance. I’ve also used them to get my boyfriend’s sister into reading. They are great for someone who doesn’t like reading but loves romance.
What are you all time favourite books?
P.S. And no this post is not sponsored or endorsed. I just really love these books and will always support Jamie McGuire as a writer! 🙂
