I discovered an amazing announcement from Pottermore last night. A Wizarding World Book Club will be launched in June to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. People all over the world will read and discuss the series.
Am I excited?
Hell yeah! I LOVE Harry Potter, and haven’t had a chance to re-read the entire series since I first read them.
I do own two copies of the series – plus the two illustrated editions – but I have such a giant to-be-read pile that I haven’t let myself read them again.
But there’s no way I could have missed this event.
No way at all. I’m excited to be in the community and the discussion.
And to rediscover everything. Therefore, without further ado (or gushing), here is my list of:
7 Things I’m Excited to Re-read in the Harry Potter Series:
1. Diagon Alley in The Philospher’s Stone
The world building in this series is amazing. The first time we really get to step into the wizarding world is an awesome experience: the owls, and wands, and potion ingredients, the outfits… Christmas and Birthday’s are also my favourite parts because of this reason. The presents are COOL!
2. The Polyjuice Potion in The Chamber of Secrets
Perhaps my inner rebel is delighting about breaking school rules, or I may love learning about the ingredients of the potion, but this is definitely one of my highlights. The abandoned bathroom; the mysterious recipe; sneaking into the Slytherin common room. The whole sequence is awesome.
3. Meeting Sirius for the first time in The Prisoner of Azkaban
I can’t remember the differences between the book and movie When Harry first meets Sirius, but I cannot wait to read it. The first time Harry realises he has family… 🙂 <3
4. The free spirit at the watering hole in The Goblet of Fire
My edition may not even have this page. It’s very battered and loved and has been around much of Australia in 2005. But I remember the wizard who refuses to put anything on under his short robe, whilst the golden trio are lining up for water at the Quiddich World Cup campsite.
5. An unsuccessful date in The Order of the Phoenix
Harry takes Cho (or should I say Cho takes him) to a ridiculously pink cafe for valentine’s day and she storms out crying when he refuses to talk about Cedric. Hilarious.
6. Snape’s mother’s photo in The Half-Blood Prince
This part was such an amazing way to discover the mystery of the novel. And a rare snapshot into the life of Severus.
7. The snitch cake in The Deathly Hallows
Why wasn’t this in the movie? It was super awesome!
